The Future Starts With G . . .

Frida Giannini is transporting Gucci into the future.  The new Gucci is Sci-fi with strapped in sex appeal. For Spring 2010 Giannini has abandoned the folklore and disco inspirations that have fuelled her designs since she took seat as head women’s wear designer in 2005.   This collection beamed off the Milanese catwalks amidst the more romantic lacy collections seen by the likes of Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana and the floral layering seen at Roberto Cavalli.  The collection was built for speed, comprising of monotone outfits creating taut silhouettes in white, steel and black with metallic, rubber and mesh detailing.  Dresses were short and fit with rubber harnesses that oozed Gucci sex appeal. Body con tops slashed with geometric mesh panels were teamed with high waist leggings with criss-crossed laced side panels in rubber piping.    Biker Jackets and pencil skirts were fitted with straps and buckles aimed to bind and release the body.  Shoes were high, stacked and secure.  The piece to sell your soul for? The digitised metallic ikat print dress with complete body harnessing, vrrrooom!
