New Yooooiyk fashion week Spring 2010 Ready-To-Wear
To set the scene…
DATE: September 2009 N.Y.C-
LOCATION: N.Y.C Fashion week- New York City
EVENT: Spring 2010 R.T.W – Fashion Showcase
Kicking off the first of the latest ‘makeup extravaganza’ ‘moments in history’ (as I like to call them- but really…for the layman, they would be dictated as nothing ‘so historical’ nothing so exciting, infact – I fear, in actuality- a fleeting image on a front page newspaper..that will be lining tomorrows ‘waste paper bins’ ha! – a ‘direct’ quote from ‘When Harry Met Sally’- how ‘DOES’ one remember these things??? Ha!) ( aka: the ‘fashion week-season forecast’ of ‘looks’ and ‘fantabulous makeup trends’ to come) was the always fabulous, aaaalways fantastic and always surprising N…Y…..and the C.
Its all a bit ‘fabulous street style’ ‘local’ for these shows, LOTS and LOTS of ‘perfectly glowing’ ‘amaaaaazingly peachy’ ‘fresh faces’ (as repeated from past seasons-AND/BUT/F.Y. I aaaalways the number ‘10’ on my ‘favourite beautiful faces’ post-it list. A good ‘base’ should NEVER be overlooked! ) (As you ‘may’ have picked up by now…I am a gal who is aaaalways aaaall about the ‘beauty of beauty’, and ‘when it aint broke- don’t fix it’ Kinda mentallity). Ok, so: ‘enough’ of the ‘inverted comma’d sentences’ and movie phrases of yore, let us get down to business: and to the nitty gritty of the ‘top 5 shows for hair and makeup’ as decided by ‘moi’.
1) Donna Karan: For the ‘sheer’ base of it
A Milky sheer base compolimented with ‘moonbeam’ ‘ peachy glow dewiness’ to the apples of the cheeks…, a little nude cheek contouring, a simple ‘innocent’ lip, perfectly brushed ‘au naturel’ ‘heidi style’ brows, a wash of caramel to ‘deepen and hilight’ the eyes- before the piece de resistance..the ‘crisp white upper lid line’. BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL…
2) Diane Von Furstenburg: For the earthy ‘chic’ of it

Flushed with a base of ‘dusty bronze’ these girls were all about the ‘tribal gypsy’ ‘au naturel’ yet super classically ‘sexy’ and ‘wholesome’ chic. Once again brows and lips were left ‘non dramatic’ and unkept, a light contour framed the cheeks while on the whole the ‘base’ stayed monotonal. All in preparation to ‘frame’ the standout part- The ‘faded tribal eye’. A wash of soft earthy red spread across the eyelids making the perfect focal point to the bare face, whilst soft ‘well kept’ plaits framed the faces of these floating beauties.
3) Marc By Marc Jacobs: For the ‘pretty’ naturalness of it all
A little ‘light definition’ on the brow and washed down onto the eyelid, a flawlessly flawless creamy base and minimal cheek definition, FAB messy ‘cyndi lauper-esque’ talons….and the ‘perfect’ dusty matte fushchia ‘cupids bow’ lip….ooo la la…’so’ prettttty.
4) Carolina Herrera: For the ‘simpleness’ of it
That ‘fabulously sheerly perfect’ ‘NOT’ overdone base that I love, complimented by a neat fresh brow, a wash of peachy camel to the eye (insiders tip: that is aaalways the way to a ‘how did that happen??’ beautiful eye) , a berry stained lip doubling up as a cheek stain for that sheer ‘misted glass’ perfection. What can I say….’perfect’.
5) Marc Jacobs: For the ‘drama’ of it

Maybe on a lil’ bit of a ‘different thread’ to the usual N.Y.C fash pack, this look brings aaaall the drama- in the most ‘beautiful’ of ‘au naturelle’ tones. A misty powder base, ala ‘theatrical broadway’ complimented with a wash of rusty contour to the cheek- that blends away to ‘nothing’, leaving room f or the ‘pieces’ de resistance…as this look is ‘not quite’ ‘monotonal’! Golden-white metallics and crisp Japanese inspired black liquid line and ultra lengthened lashes frame the eye and are mirrored by a soft crisp brown brow. Rusty red lips and hair scraped up into a sharp top knot- provided the ‘strong’ directional base for Marc’s strong directional range.
