Dave Matthews is coming to town

In February 2010, Dave Matthews Band will be playing in Stockholm – for the very first time in the bands history. Will I be attending? Of course!
Why? Because we’re talking a legendary band here. A band known not just for their innovative guitar riffs and groovy beats (or amazing vocalist for that matter) but also for their activism in a number of causes. They’ve been involved in multiple aid projects, raising money for people in need. One example is when Dave played the song “Everyday” at the tribute concert after 9/11. There are numerous of others. Just check out the bands website and you’ll be amazed.
If you haven’t heard of Dave Matthews before, I seriously recommend you to check out the songs “Don’t drink the water”, “Crash into me”, and “Bartender”. Three brilliant songs, whether performed simply on an acoustic guitar or by the entire entourage. Dave’s unique guitar playing style actually makes it really difficult to tell what versions I like the best. He’s one of the great guitarists out there today, if you ask me.
In the US, Dave Matthews is considered one of the greatest bands of the 90’s, and they’ve played in front of enormous crouds all over America. They’ve played Central Park, Woodstock, and Folsom Fields just to name a few places. But in Europe, and especially in Scandinavia, few people know them. They’re not on the radio. They’re not on MTV. In fact, even if you would ask the “music geeks” (people like myself) I bet you would find that only a handful of them would say that they know any of their songs.
Now, all of that is about to change in February. Stockholm, prepare yourself. Dave Matthews is coming to town…
