The Portrait of Self. Calling all artists!

self

self-por·trait (slfpôrtrt, -trt, -pr-)
n. A pictorial or literary portrait of oneself, created by oneself.

This subject matter that was perfected by grand masters such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, Andy Warhol to name a few – is in the spotlight for this week’s post. The reason why? Artist Wanted is on the search for creative talents for their latest competition that celebrates self-portraiture.

Kahlo once said, “I paint myself because… I am the subject I know best”. Whether you are sure or half-way in this the self-discovery process, you will have the chance to share the final outcome with an immense international audience, be judged by none other than Guggenheim curator Helen Hsu to name a few, plus be up for a juicy first prize that includes six months of free accommodation in the big apple or $7007 in cash to develop your artistic skills. I supposed by now you are grabbing your mirror, brushes, cameras, or mouse and putting on your best profile!

Submission must be in by 11:59pm January 21th, 2010 (deadline extended). All mediums are welcome. For more information click here.

Good luck and speak soon, f
