Adelaide Festival 2010

Sydney Festival is saying goodbye to us this week, but for the ones that are already craving a new cultural agenda, there is no need to be blue. Just relocate yourself to Adelaide, South Australia from the period of 26th of February to 14th of March, or if you are a local stay there! And why is that? Celebrating it’s 50th anniversary is Adelaide Festival, reuniting local and international artists with art, music and everything else creative.

The city that is known for its laid back lifestyle can sometimes be unfairly overlooked when the subject is art. However, if you look back some unique Aussie talents have flowered from that part of the earth and you can’t close your eyes to that. Such as a huge inspiration of mine the late Barbara Hanrahan and the cool kids of Mash Design!
From the many events, one exhibition I’m really looking forward to seeing in the festival is ‘Apart, we are together’. It will bring together 11 big guns of contemporary art such as Lucy + Jorge Horta (really love their work!), Tara Donovan, Apichatpong Weerasethakul into five contemporary arts organisations in Adelaide: Anne & Gordon Samstag Museum of Art, Contemporary Art Centre of South Australia (CACSA), Australian Experimental Art Foundation, Flinders University City Gallery, JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design.
