KIRRILY JOHNSTON – interview Australian Fashion Week Day 04
Kirrily Johnston’s SS1011 collection, Apocolypto, was a vision of the future based on back to the beginning of time aesthetics. Her garments were filled with notions of tribal- cave men times. All her signature elements were there too, from the stripes to the draped knitwear and each had its own new visual appeal that ensured it was fresh fashion with an underlying identifiable style. The show was one of the standouts of the week, a complete printed vision, with tribal hair, make up and accessories to match, which extended as far as the notable towering turbans on models heads. Kirrily featured two main prints, in addition to her stripe numbers, both with a tribal inspiration and put garments from her new diffusion basics line KJ back with them to ensure the look was not only complete but distinct in its overarching identity. Kirrily has carved her self a strong reputation and unique style niche in the Australian Industry that continues to expand its strengths each season.
