Tangent Meets Fashion Blogger Jeremy Danté

Jeremy Dante is one charismatic blogger who proves there is a reason that bloggers have become the latest fashion authorities. His strong opinions on beauty and fashion’s ability to represent it have made him a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world.  A self described “know it all” Jeremy let’s us in on just how these strong opinions formed and how he expresses them through his blog.

Tangent Digital: You have developed a very strong opinion about fashion today, what do you think has influenced you in forming this opinion?

The opinion that I have been able to showcase in my writing is who I am, its my voice. The forming of my opinion has really been shaped by a distinction in how I feel about construction & style- how I, myself, define fashion is what separates my opinion of fashion; I judge style based on what I see in myself & what I’ve valued as beautiful in my own lifestyle & existence. Im competitive by nature & I felt that my thoughts & opinions of fashion are different than others out there in the fashion blogosphere, my love for fashion has influenced by work & my sense of excitement to share it with others.

Tangent Digital: They say you were called ‘a bossy know it all’ as a child how does this personality trait transfer into the style and content of your fashion blogging?
My “bossy know it all” personality really drives research & information on my blog; I’ve grown knowing & learning, resenting misinformation or simply being wrong. Because I’ve grown up being ‘bossy’ or being a ‘know it all’ I learned to always check facts & information before stating how I feel or discussing something & have also encouraged myself to share knowledge. I make it a point to present knowledge alongside facts, rankings & opinions on my blog- an aspect my readers are attracted by. 70% of what I do is research & my hunger to “know it all”.

Tangent Digital: What are you ranting and raving about in fashion at the moment?
I have always searched to see individuals in fashion who look like me, ethnically; so I am ranting & raving about the popularity of ethnic male & female models. & while im raving about this sudden rise in demand for more ethnic types, I hope that the popularity of the current time is one that will continue to thrive with a greater sense of permanence. Here, in America, myself & many individuals I’ve grown up with have been of mixed raced & I love that I am beginning to see much more color in fashion that I can relate to. I look forward to seeing much more of this development in model castings & campaign bookings.

Tangent Digital: The concept for your blog often seems to centre around the perception of beauty. How would you describe your own perception of beauty and how does it influence your choice of content on your blog?
As a child, I was always very interested in Disney films, princesses, villans & coloring books. I was always attracted to all of those elements of fantasy & creativity as I grew up & I never lost that interest. At this point, my interests in fashion & beauty have developed from my childhood interests. Of course now, Cinderella’s glass slipper has been replaced with Carrie Bradshaw’s Louboutin Glitter Pump, but in essence my perception has imaginatively evolved.  How that perception influences the content in which I choose is simple; if i don’t have a dialogue about how beautiful or stylized the content is, beyond presenting facts, I don’t post it.

Tangent Digital: What other avenues in the fashion industry outside of your blog would you like work on? Is there a future in photography, live commentating, column work?

I never limit myself when considering options; I don’t feel that my creativity limits what I do or what I want to do in anyway. I would love to work in a position involving creative direction- I feel that I have a strong sense within that realm. Whether photography, styling, imaging, branding, live commentating, fashion writing or even public relations- what I do & what has become my branding signature is all driven by my expectation for beauty & excellence in execution.
