GREETINGS FROM LONDON!
By Liz Frost

Will you get ‘Shagged’ this Christmas?

No, I’m not being saucy… I’m referring to Victoria Beckham’s new hair!  Ever since Posh Spice stepped out sporting her latest ‘do’ London’s been going crazy for the soft layered style. poshspice Schwarzkopf Colour Ambassador Anita Cox McMillan says “The great thing with Posh’s new look is that it truly compliments her features. The texture and body really bring out her eyes, while the side swept fringe is used perfectly to fully enhance her face shape.” This look will be taking London by storm this season and next, with a string of celebs already enjoying its versatility and adaptability – Girls Aloud’s Sarah Harding has already been spotted sporting Posh’s ‘Shag’. This style is great for anyone who wants to enhance their facial features, and can generally be altered by length to suit most people.  But be warned, Anita adds, “I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone who can’t spend time styling it because, although this cut has a lot of options, it truly looks its best when styled.”

So what other styles have we got our eyes on for the party season?

FLAME RED CURLS!

flameredcurlsFor those looking to really stand out at the Christmas party, this flame red style looks to be a hot trend for Winter.  Anita says, “It provides the client with great versatility and can be altered to suit any face shape. The cut can be maintained on a variant of lengths, meaning it can be easily adapted to suit the individual’s needs.  The colour is a great choice for the current season- making it perfect for any Christmas event. Plus the deep red tones can be really complimented with flashes of brighter red to achieve a high fashion finish.”  What better way to warm up your look during the cold winter months?

THE BOB WITH A TWIST

bobwithtwistIf you’re already a fan of the classic bob, this ‘bob with a twist’ could be the style for you.  There are more layers than the ever-popular smooth version, which creates a more textured, choppy finish.  “I think it’s going to be huge for the new season” says Schwarzkopf Professional Ambassador, Steven Goldsworthy, “because it’s almost the next step on from the classic bob we’ve seen so much of over the last couple of years. Texture is also a massive trend at the moment and with a touch of product teamed with the layers this style gets it spot on.”  Steven recommends OSiS Dust It! (RRP £10.45) which is a texturising power that creates an amazing effect.  Highlights or lowlights will add texture and tone to the style.

The good thing about this style is it’s flattering for most face shapes because it is so layered. The style can be adapted to create a slightly less heavy fringe if your face is rounder. Steven says, “The only hair type that this wouldn’t work with would be hair that’s thick and extra curly. Straighteners do work wonders but it’ll be very hard work to achieve this style on a regular basis if you have coarse or curly hair.”

LONG AND LUXURIOUS

longluxuriousShort styles come and go, but there’s always room for long flowing locks.  This season D&G, Armani alongside Dior and Gucci all used models with effortlessly feminine hairstyles which were either swept off their faces or left with tumbling curls resting on their shoulders. “This look is set to take Autumn / Winter by storm with women opting for a timeless look,” says Schwarzkopf Professional Ambassador, John Carne, “approximately 90% of the female population have long hair which has helped this trend take off.”  But long hair doesn’t make hairstylists redundant, they’re busy putting their scissor skills to use with strong firm fringes to highlight the cheekbones and the eyes.

“The key message for this season is to have long hair that has flexibility to give you super straight or flirty curls with minimum effort.” Adds John, “Styling products from the OSiS range are perfect for crossing shape, finish, protection and hold to replicate these effortlessly feminine looks. “

Schwarzkopf Professional stockist number is 01296 314 000.

AND IN FASHION…
In London and looking for the ultimate party dress?  Topshop Oxford Circus has started renting out dresses worn by the likes of Kate Moss, Freida Pinto, Scarlett Johansson, and Naomi Campbell.  Dress hire costs around £40 a day and the selection also includes frocks donated from other fashion forward celebs and designers such as Olivia Palermo, Christopher Kane, and Emma Cook.  But get in there quick!  All the dresses will then be auctioned off for sale with all proceeds going to the Age Concern and Help the Aged foundation.
