Holly Fulton SS12 – London Fashion Week

Holly Fulton wants you to go to Margate dressed in an interpretation of late 80s early 90s frivolous glamour. The palazzo feeling of the collection was modernised by Fulton’s daring mix of layered prints, perspex jewellery and hard-ware embellishments. Stand outs from the collection were; dresses that were edged in a mosaic style hardware, the layered embellished prints that screamed h-o-l-i-d-a-y and the teal feather trim that added the perfect hint of fun. On your next... Read More

Corrie Nielsen SS12 – London Fashion Week

Anything inspired by Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray is going to have a sinister side, substance, and references to 19th century tailored dress. Corrie Nielsen’s SS12 collection Arbiter Elegantiarum does all this with a japanese twist. The drama in the silhouettes and construction was balanced with a restricted colour palette, hair and make-up.  Fabrics were luxurious and carefully edited.  No wonder John Galliano picked this true talent for the winner... Read More

B Store SS12 – London Fashion Week

B Store is hitting all the right nerves for the modern way hipsters want to dress. Muted tones, loose-fitted trouser legs, cuffed pants, shorts with sports jackets and fabrics which don’t require ironing.  This was prevalent at their raging Absolut Vodka party on opening night of London Fashion Week.  Definitely a label we will be seeing more and more of on the streets. Vivienne Westwood Red Label SS12 – London Fashion Week

The Vivienne Westrood Red Label SS12 show my not have surprised but definitely satisfied.  Westwood’s signature cuts and draping formed the silhouettes we all know and love in a lighter palette featuring cool blues, steel greys and beige.  Man-style cropped pants worked perfectly back with wrapped jackets and some of the most simplest draped dresses made the most powerful statements.  Hair and make-up was, as always, outrageous.  The stand out was some styles where... Read More

House of Holland SS12 – London Fashion Week

House of Holland needs to gift Chloe Sevigny. As quirky as the label is cool, this collection is ripe and ready for it-girls.  Held at London venue ‘The Dairy’, the cow-print motif and milkshake hues were right at home in this particular environment. Pastel coloured tartan sweetened a more masculine fabrication, whilst hints of snake-print on collars and sleeves gave the clothes the subtle edge that it-girls search for all over.  Read More

Craig Lawrence SS12 NEWGEN – London Fashion Week

Craig Lawrence showed his collection, which is based on knitwear, in an intimate space in London’s Somerset House. A narrator took the audience through each look, explaining the complicated techniques take to achieve each fastidious and beautiful piece.  Harmonious styling enhanced the ethereal feel of the collection, keeping the tones mixed between a dominant lurex rose gold, beige and spearmint.  Swarovski crystals were artfully woven into some pieces.  The head pieces... Read More

Ashish SS12 – London Fashion Week

Let’s just call it a mad english tea party of grunge-meets-sequin in a flurry of print clashes. At the Ashish SS12 collection today, a very Marc Jacobs/Perry Ellis mood was created through styling that was a heavy nod to 90′s grunge.   Doc Martens served as flower pots, bursting with foliage  at the models carves. The sequinned fabrics seemed to shimmer like scales in daring and accomplished print fusions. Daisies on stripes, hibiscus flowers on zebra and bricks... Read More

Jasper Conran SS12 – London Fashion Week

Execution is a very difficult thing to master. Perhaps that is why it is designers like Jasper Conran, who have experience on their side, are a reference point for the new generation of designers. Jasper Conran delivered a show of  tone-on-tone dressing in brilliant hues. Bleached white, tangerine red, gun metal grey and a shocking pink that would have made Elsa Schiaparelli proud.  Precision cutting and origami style folding realised the hues in striking shapes. Perspex detailing... Read More

Julien Macdonald SS12 – London Fashion Week

Julien Macdonald is having a moment. His spring/summer 11/12 collection took us on a journey from strict tailoring to featherlight nude gowns with intricate embroidery. This journey involved a strict colour palette of black, white, nude, metallic, canary yellow and sky blue. The opening saw the models in man-style tailoring with oversized lapels, hard accessories and fierce red lips. As the tailoring softened so did the colours with an introduction of canary yellow and a sky... Read More

Basso and Brooke SS12 – London Fashion Week

Bruno Basso and Chris Brooke of Basso and Brooke displayed a new twist on their signature prints for spring/summer 11/12.  Instead of the heavily detailed digital prints they have paired back and produced prints with a more abstract feeling. PPQ SS12 – London Fashion Week

PPQ by Percy Parker and Amy Molyneaux is celebrating 10 years.  What a playful and effervescent ten years it has been. Their spring summer 11/12 show was a testament to the labels essence. Tongue-in-check cool girl. Double denim ensembles, socks with open-toe heels, appliqués of  Ps, Qs and keys an, our favourite, a Zoro inspired finale.  We look forward to decade number two!  Read More

Sass & Bide SS12 – London Fashion Week

Welcome to a season of the Sass and Bide neon warrior. The Sass and Bide Seekerstate SS12 collection was housed in the light filled space of London’s Royal Opera House. The collection was fresh and succinct, focusing on a combination of athletic elements, polka dot prints, metallic fabrics, blinding whites and leather detailing.  The silhouettes of the collection fused sharp tailoring with looser cuts, which created a relationship between constriction and movement. Watch... Read More
