Born in the United Kingdom, then traveling extensively as a child, Fern began her ‘love affair’ with all things ‘beautiful’ at the age of 3 WHEN as her mother puts it she began sporting the ‘most fashionable’ yet ‘VERY full-on..Almost wrong’ ‘blue eye shadow/pink lipstick and orange/purple sweater’ combo around town…”! It was all a little bit thrown together, mismatched and ALL at once…but somehow she managed to pull it off!” “ I soon ‘warmed’ to the idea-once realization set in” fern’s mother Pauline recalls, …” Fern was to be the ‘wardrobe police’ from then on!!”
In 1998 Fern began her career in Hair and Makeup at London’s Westminster College before relocating to Australia in 2003. With a career spanning over 10 years in the Fashion, Beauty, Advertising and Music industries, Fern continues to work between Europe and Australia for various publications such as Nylon, Esquire, Rolling stone, cosmopolitan and Oyster to name a few, and names Campaign clients Sass & Bide, Mooks, Lee, Nike, Sony BMG and Universal Music among her regulars. Along her ‘travels’ in ‘make-up land’ she has been privileged to work with a vast diversity of talent, ranging from small kiddies and bubs to mums, dads, the ‘prettiest of the pretttty’, the ‘cutest of the cute’, ‘ the loudest of the loud’, and a ‘RALPH model’ or two thrown in for good “measure”! (Pardon the pun!). Of all her ‘celebrity daaaahlink!’ clients, she happily names Simon Lebon, Duran Duran, and Nicole Richie among her ‘loveliest’ faves.
Most recently- Fern’s talents and expertise within the industry have lead her to covet the position of the resident Beauty Editor at Tangent Magazine. The beginning of yet another..’Very VERY lovely’ journey.
