Joseph Corré’s War Paint Against Mediocrity
Joseph Corré has a special touch when it comes to branding. Despite being brought up by culture-carving Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McClaren, it was through his own handiwork that he created prolific labels Agent Provocateur and A Child of the Jago. Now Corré has turned his hand to Illamasqua, a make-up brand for those who employ make-up as “war paint against mediocrity”. Originally, Corré met the founder and chairman of Illamasqua, Julian Kynaston, to discuss a collaboration with Agent Provocateur. They discovered they were kindred spirits in their vision of creating products that engender an emotional connection with the wearer. Already impressed by the identity of Illamasqua, Corré joined forces with Kynaston to further develop the brand.
In the video montage above, hear what Corré has to say about the concept of make-up and tribes, while excerpts from the film ‘Poem’, starring Vicky McClure and directed by Simon Burrill, illustrate the core of Illamasqua’s identity.
